SAM CALI INVITATIONAL WRESTLING TOURNAMENT
Battle For The Belt
The Sam Cali Invitational Wrestling Tournament on January 13-14 2018 at West Orange High School, West Orange, NJ.
The Tournament Includes:
9 state ranked teams from New Jersey, Massachusetts, Delaware, Rhode Island and New York
74 State Qualifiers
25 State Place Finishers
8 State Champions
The tournament is in memory and honor of Sam Cali who loved the sport of wrestling and was accomplished wrestler placing 3rd in the state of New Jersey for Don Bosco Prep and two time All-American at the NHSCA Nationals in Virginia Beach. His goals for college wrestling were to start at 133/141 for the University of Rutgers, become an All-American, and the ultimate goal of being a National Champion.
The vision is to host the most prestigious high school wrestling tournament in New Jersey where proceeds will be awarded to the champions of each weight class in the form of scholarship for college.
The Sam Cali National Invitational will be a 32-man double elimination tournament following the NJSIAA rules. We are looking to invite the best teams from all over the east coast and beyond. We have also invited Flowrestling to cover the event to gain more exposure to college coaches. We have invited college coaches from all over the east coast to attend the event in hopes that wrestlers will create dialogue for possible recruitment in the future.
If you wish or know of anyone who wants to be a sponsor you may make a donation to the foundation and the proceeds will go to help fund the awarded scholarship for champion of each weight class.
If you would like to volunteer and help us with the tournament, please contact us at the email and number provided below.
From the Cali Family to yours thank you,
